Wonder Woman is a hero that is a little different from other characters in this database. Although not canonically written as bisexual in the stories, the writer himself has acknowledged that Diana is bisexual. Which, living on an island entirely composed of women for most of her life, and as well as the famous line from the 2017 Wonder Woman movie, “Men are essential when it comes to procreation, but when it comes to pleasure… Unnecessary.” It really shouldn’t surprise people that Wonder Woman would be bisexual.
Daughter of the Queen, Hippolyta, was the only child born on Themiscyra (or, Paradise Island), through the whole history of the Amazonians. They were created by goddesses, being transformed from murdered souls by men. Hippolyta begged the gods and goddesses for a daughter, and molded Diana from clay with her own hands to have her. They granted Diana powers that no other Amazonian had.
Eventually, the Gods asked the Amazonians to send an ambassador into the World of Men, and so the queen held a contest for a champion to go. Diana was forbidden, but disobeyed her mother anyway, entered, and became the champion. Her mother gave her the Lasso of Truth, and the Sandals of Hermes, and then Diana left to join the world of men.
She then met her future lover, Steve Trevor, and a Harvard professor by the name of Julia Kapatelis, as well as her daughter, Vanessa. Diana formed a kinship with them and learned about the world of men through their teachings.
Ares, the god of war, sent one of his minions to attack her once he learned of her presence, and the fight broke out on to the streets of Boston, where the world would get their first glimpse of Wonder Woman in action.
