James Tynion IV

Writer
Queer Works: Batwoman, The Backstagers

Bio:

James Tynion is a comic book writer of epic proportions at the moment in the comic book industry, with an especially hard focus on DC’s Bat-group. The writer has created content for the re-launch of Batman, Batman Eternal (as well as Batman and Robin Eternal, two very different comics), and, not to be outdone in the Bat-group, Tynion was a head writer of the canonically lesbian superhero, Batwoman (more about her on her character sheet). Mirroring his own identity as being proudly bisexual, Tynion has also written for the bisexual comic hero Constantine.

As someone who is bisexual, Tynion has first-hand understanding of a queer and bi experience that straight comic book creators simply don’t. And he uses this to also write aside from superheroes, celebrating his LGBT pride in his indie comic The Backstagers, which combines queer culture, theatre, and a little bit of magic.
