Created alongside his eventual husband, Midnighter may be a stone cold (or computer controlled) killer, but would you go to the depths of hell for your husband to save his soul? Midnighter did. And, it’s a pretty great example of queer love story, especially in comics.

Following the same history as his husband, Apollo, Midnighter was also a part of the Stormwatch black ops team. Together, they decided to go rogue after they were attacked, and spent the next five years fighting undercover. And after the corruption from Stormwatch was dissipated after the leader, Bendix, died, they went on to live new lives.

However, that didn’t mean that their lives weren’t tumultuous. Apollo’s soul was stolen and taken to Hell, and Midnighter, not accepting that his husband was gone, traveled to hell with a little help.
