Fans have been shipping Harley and Poison Ivy since they were first seen together, so when her bisexuality was confirmed, fans rejoiced for their relationship (so, hopefully Harley will stay away from the Joker) and the validity of Harley’s queerness. DC Comics officially confirmed their relationship in 2015, so they’ve been together for three years now!

We first see Dr. Harleen Quinzel as a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, where she was tasked with researching patients there by Gotham City University. Extremely intrigued by the Joker, she begged the asylum doctors for permission to treat and analyze him. During their sessions, they both got to know each other, and the Joker manipulated Harleen into falling in love with him. He convinced her to help him escape (more than once) from the asylum, and eventually she was but behind asylum bars herself, and her license revoked.

An earthquake occurred in Gotham city, and the pair escaped from Arkham Asylum, where Harleen adopted the moniker Harley Quinn, fighting at the Joker’s side.
