Created and released in the late 90’s by Warren Ellis (a very prolific comic writer), Apollo would eventually be revealed to be gay and marry future husband and anti-hero Midnighter.

Apollo was the leader of a black ops team known as StormWatch, before they went on a mission and only himself and Midnighter survived. Together, they decided to go rogue and spent the next five years fighting undercover.

Believing StormWatch to still be corrupted from the conditions that made them go rogue, they attacked the team until they learned of the leader’s death and were granted freedom away from Stormwatch to live their own lives.
